Classroom time is from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  The students get to work at their own pace by setting goals and completing their work each day.  Each student who reaches their goals, and does well on their work and tests, receive certain privileges.  These privileges are motivational tools to encourage them to do the best they can on their work.  These priviilages are also based on their behavior in the classroom and their willingness to help in any way they can.

 

Field trips are always the bright spot of each month.  Every month, we try to have at least one field trip.  These include trips to the zoo, Shiloh Military Park, plays, history museums, science museums, and other places of interest.  Parents are also encouraged to attend these field trips.  This gives the parents and their children quality time as well as maintaining relationships between parents, students and school faculty.

 

After the school year is over, we have an Awards Banquet night.  Food, fellowship, fun and awards are all a delightful part of this night.  Awards are given to every student in the form of certificates of achievement or trophies.  Students are recognized for their accomplishments throughout the school year.  No one is left out.  We at SHLCA feel everyone does something special and everyone needs to be recognized.

 

Graduations are a special event at SHLCA.  They are different than most graduations.  They are God-centered and have a special theme to encourage the graduates.  The graduates need encouragement as they are finishing a chapter in their life and beginning a brand new one.  The school tries to prepare them for what is past graduation.  Of course, only experience will teach them everything, but at least we try to prepare them to be good stewards of God's money and time.
